    Bas-Armagnac, whose capital is Eauze, is west of the appellation, in an area that runs from Nogaro to Villeneuve-de-Marsan, Roquefort, Gabarret (to the west), between Gers and Landes, To return to the western part of the Gers to Eauze. Its name refers to the region of production of the appellation having the lowest altitude.
    This region is the largest on the planted surface because it represents around 67% of the areas identified.
    We find on these lands, generally sandy soils also called "sandstands". These soils are mainly made up of sand (70%-90%), silt (0%-30%) and clay (0%-15%). The climate is rather temperate.

    Bas Armagnac, an exceptional terroir

    Bas-Armagnac wine growers mainly cultivatethree grape varieties: Ugni Blanc, Colombard and Folle Blanche. These varieties bring specific characteristics to Armagnac, contributing to its unique aromatic profile. The grapes are harvested at optimal maturity, carefully selected by hand to guarantee the best quality for the production of Armagnac.

    The distillation of wines to obtain Armagnac is carried out according to thetraditional method called "Armagnacaise". This method consists of continuous column distillation, also called "Armagnac still". It preserves the delicate aromas of wines and produces an eau-de-vie rich in flavors and complexity.

    After distillation, the Armagnacs du Bas-Armagnac are placed inoak barrels for aging. The barrels used are often old barrels, which allows the eaux-de-vie to gradually mature and develop their characteristic aromatic bouquet. Aging in oak barrels also gives woody aromas and a beautiful roundness to Armagnac.
