Located in the heart of the Gers, the Veuve Lafontan house has a rich collection of vintages. They are found, for the oldest, in the treasure room, a unique place where vintages dating from 1888 to 1969 are preciously preserved in glass candies.
More recent vintages are pursuing a long aging process in oak barrels.
Through this collection, the Veuve Lafontan house has sent us all the ancestral know-how acquired for over a century.
The breeding in an oak piece of this 1988 vintage produced by Le Maitre de Chai gives us delicious unsuspected aromas.

Dress: The dress of this 1988 Armagnac is rather clear with beautiful orange shades with copper reflections.
Nose: the nose is complex. Many aromas of sweet spices emerge from the glass intertwined with vanilla and cocoa notes.
Mouth: The attack on the palate is flexible with a beautiful aromatic palette. The tannins are round revealing a beautiful finish.
Finish: the end of mouth of this Armagnac Veuve Lafontan 1988 is intense and long. Delicious grilled wood notes persist in the mouth.

The Bas-Armagnac, whose capital is Eauze, is west of the appellation. It runs on the Landes and the western part of the Gers. It represents 67% of the areas identified in Armagnac. In this part of the terroir, the floors are sablo simedy, called "sandblasters". Bas-Armagnac brandies are delicate and very fruity.
