The richness of Tariquet Armagnacs is found throughout its range. For decades, the estate has been distilling and aging to the point of having an exceptional collection.
Montreur d'Ours is a unique Bas-Armagnac Hors d'Âge, blending barrels of the Plant de Graisse, Ugni blanc and Baco grape varieties aged 10 to 20 years.
This vintage pays homage to the ancestors of the Grassa-Artaud family, originally from Ercé, a small village in the Ariège mountains, at the foot of the Pyrenees, who maintained the tradition of Montreur d'Ours. In 1912 they purchased Domaine Tariquet in Gascony which had been producing Armagnac since 1683.

Eaux-de-vie with astonishing length on the palate, extraordinary amplitude and tremendous elegance. Blended with Ugni blanc and Baco, it gains finesse and aromatic power.

Bas-Armagnac, whose capital is Eauze, is to the west of the appellation, in an area which runs from Nogaro to Villeneuve-de-Marsan, Roquefort, Gabarret (to the west), between Gers and Landes, to return to the western part of the Gers as far as Eauze. Bas-Armagnac represents 67% of the areas identified in Armagnac. In this part of the land, the soils are sandy loam, called “tawny sands”. Bas-Armagnac eaux-de-vie are delicate and very fruity.

The nobility of the spirits of the Domaine Tariquet Is based on the quality of distilled wines, and first on the meticulous care brought to the cultivation of the vines. To Domaine Tariquet, the distillation is carried out by grape variety in a traditional armagnacais copper alambic, heated with wood fire. The barriques of the estate are exclusively derived from oaks of French high futaies known for the fine grain of their wood."
